Much like the name suggests, the small city of Interlaken, Switzerland is located between two amazingly beautiful lakes, Lake Brienzensee and Lake Thunersee, in the heart of the Bernese Oberland region. Interlaken is surrounded by some of the Alp’s highest peaks, Eiger, Monch, and Jungfrau and thus, attracts a big backpacker crowd, as well as those looking to hike up the mountains. Most tourists start off their Interlaken, Switzerland tour by visiting the Harder Kulm, being the most popular Interlaken attractions, and also considered as one of the best things to do there. Harder Kulm is a viewpoint at 1,321 metres height overlooking the city and the two lakes – Brienzensee and Thunersee and can be reached easily by the funicular located across the river, just near the railway station. However, most mountain enthusiasts also hike up the 4km up to Harder Kulm. The next best thing to do after witnessing the spectacular view of the city is to take a boat ride on one or both the beautiful lakes surrounding the city. Picture yourself on azure blue water, with colourful picturesque villages surrounded by mountains! The whole experience itself is so mesmerising that one may want to stop time and take in every bit of the beauty.

Apart from these, the town of Interlaken doesn’t have much to offer. However, if century-old Hotels, spectacular buildings, horse-pulled carriages, and beautiful flowers are your thing, you are ought to spend some time in the town as well. With small busy streets, lined with shops and restaurants, one can easily spend hours and just relax like a lazy Sunday.
